In what could be a plot of a late-season Glee episode, Spring Awakening star Lea Michele has said she'd love to carry her costar Jonathan Groff's baby if he ever wants to be a dad someday.
The news came during an interview between the two stars with People, when they were talking about what it's been like to reunite with their Spring Awakening cast now that they're adults and have kids.
Michele, who is 35, and had her first son Ever in 2020, said that she loved reuniting with others like Lauren Pritchard and Lilli Cooper, who also recently became mothers. "To see our sons playing together, I'm just so grateful," she said. "I've experienced so many versions of life with these girls."
When the out Looking and Matrix alum was asked if he wanted to join in on the baby fever, he wasn't so enthusiastic, responding with "great question!" But, his co-star Michele was happy to jump in.
"I'll carry your baby. I will," Michele jumped in.
"You will," Groff responded.
"Hell yeah! I love being pregnant," Michele added. "It's so much fun!"
Groff did say that at least for now, he's not exactly an expert when it comes to dealing with kids. "I have this weird quirk where I scare small children because - this was with my two nieces as well, between the ages of 0 and 2 - I come in hot with the enthusiasm, and it freaks them out," he said. "This is the case with Ever as well. So I'm slowly trying to play it cool to gain his love and affection back."
Groff said the one saving grace is Ever's love of musical theater, saying that he loves Groff's song "You'll Be Back" from Hamilton. "I'm waiting for the age when he's going to be able to watch Frozen," Groff joked. "And then maybe I'll have another in, but I'm working on it."
Groff and Michele will be reuniting when they, and other original cast and crew members from Spring Awakening, reunite for the Spring Awakening: Those You've Known special, airing on HBO May 3 at 9pm ET and streaming on HBO Max.
