6 New Projects Ariana DeBose Will Star In After Her Epic Oscar Win
The Oscar-winning 'West Side Story' star is staying booked and busy!
Just a few years ago, she was part of the ensemble in Hamilton, and now she's one of the biggest, most in-demand names in Hollywood. Ariana DeBose is quickly becoming one of the best actors in the world, so of course it makes sense she's staying booked and busy.
Especially after she swept awards season, culminating in an Oscaw win for her role as Anita in Steven Speilberg's West Side Story, DeBose has started lining up projects left and right.
We know that we can't wait to see her, and you probably can't either. So we've put together this list of six upcoming projects we can look forward to watching her in.
WestWorld
We were all pleasantly surprised when we saw Ariana pop up in the new trailer for the upcoming fourth season of HBO's WestWorld. We don't know who she'll be playing, but she joins a great cast of queer women including Evan Rachel Wood and Tessa Thompson on the show about robotics and humanity. Season 4 starts on HBO June 26.
Kraven the Hunter
Of course, every rising star needs a superhero movie, and DeBose found hers with this Sony Spider-Man universe film. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will star as the Spider-Man villain Kraven the Hunter, and DeBose is playing Calypso, another villain, and the sometimes lover of Kraven.
Schmigadoon, Season 2
DeBose was stunning and irresistible as schoolmarm Emma Tate in this perfect spoof of classic musicals starring Keegan-Michael Key, Cecily Strong, Alan Cumming, Kristin Chenoweth, Dove Cameron, Jaime Camil, and Aaron Tveit. While we don't yet know for sure if this Apple TV+ show will return for a second season, we're certainly hoping it will, and reports seem to indicate that it will be.
ISS
This sci-fi thriller will star DeBose, Chris Messina, Pilou Asbaek, John Gallagher, Jr., Costa Ronin, and Maria Mashkova as a group of astronauts living on the International Space Station. Their lives and mission are thrown into jeopardy when they receive an ominous message from Earth. The film is currently in post production.
Argyle
Matthew Vaughn's upcoming spy film stars Henry Cavill as a world-class spy who gets amnesia and is tricked into believing he's a best-selling spy novelist. When his memories return, he has to use his skills to get revenge on the shadowy organization he used to work for. It also stars DeBose, Sam Rockwell, Bryce Dallas Howard, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, Dua Lipa, and Rob Delaney in an incredibly stacked cast. The film is currently in post-production.
Poolman
DeBose has just been cast in this upcoming project, which will be the directorial debut of Star Trek and Wonder Woman star Chris Pine. The LA-set drama will also star Pine, as well as Jennifer Jason Leigh, Annette Bening, and Danny DeVito.
