UPDATE 7/15/2022: Here's a plot twist we didn't see coming: after a very public fall from grace, it turns out Call Me by Your Name actor Armie Hammer reportedly DOES work in the Cayman Islands after all.
Last week it was reported that the 35-year-old was working as a hotel concierge at Morritt's Resort in Grand Cayman after a tweet went viral of a flier from the resort that was using Hammer's picture, listing him as the concierge. While Hammer's legal representative made it clear that he is not a hotel employee, just a guest, a new, anonymous source is telling Variety that Hammer is indeed working for hotels in the area selling timeshares.
"He is working at the resort and selling timeshares. He is working at a cubicle," a source, who called Variety this week, explains. "The reality is he's totally broke, and is trying to fill the days and earn money to support his family."
The unnamed source is also claiming that Hammer was managing an apartment complex in the Caymans before peddling timeshares and that he is living there to be closer to his kids and ex-wife.
ORIGINAL 7/7/2022: If you find yourself vacationing in the Cayman Islands, will you be able to find once-beloved but blacklisted actor and Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer as a concierge? Definitely not.
Hopes were raised that Hammer, who has disappeared from Hollywood after screenshots of messages with women exposed him as having rape, knife play, and cannibalism fetisishes, and after multiple women accused him of emotional abuse, manipulation, and coercion, had popped up as an employee at Morritt's Resort in Grand Cayman.
Writer and producer Muna Mire had posted on Twitter a flier that her friend's parents allegedly received while vacationing in the Cayman Islands showing Armie Hammer as their personal concierge. According to the flier, which has a picture of Hammer, the actor is "here to help you get the very best from your vacation" and has discount vouchers for activities including swimming with dolphins, deep-sea fishing, local restaurants, and much much more.
Unfortunately, while the flier exists, it's just a joke played by some of the actual staff of the hotel. According to Variety, a lawyer for Hammer clarified that while Hammer is indeed staying at the hotel, it's as a guest, not an employee.
Hammer grew up regularly visiting the Caymans and has become friends with several members of the hotel staff, playing golf with them. Variety also reports that some of those employees that know Hammer made up the flier and sent it to a few rooms as a prank for those who might have seen Hammer around the area.
After Call Me by Your Name, Hammer was one of the biggest stars in Hollywood. However, the last movie he was in was Death on the Nile, and he was dropped from other projects including Jennifer Lopez's Shotgun Wedding, the thriller Billion Dollar Spy, the Broadway play The Minutes, and the series The Offer, where Miles Teller took over his role.
Hammer currently has no acting roles lined up, so maybe he actually could use the hotel job.
