Maren Morris, Cassadee Pope Call Out Jason Aldean's Wife For Her Transphobic Instagram Post

The women of country music aren't standing for transphobia.

After country star Jason Aldean's wife Brittany Kerr Aldean made transphobic comments on her Instagram, several of the genre's biggest stars are calling her out.

Aldean had posted a video on Instagram showing off a makeup look and captioned it with a transphobic comment.

"I'd really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girly life," she wrote.

Her husband commented on the post, showing a laughing emoji and saying, "Lmao!! I'm glad they didn't too, cause you and I wouldn't have worked out."

Obviously, the idea that parents are "changing" their children's gender when they show any sign of variance is a straw man argument, creating a problem that doesn't exist in real life so that transphobes can argue against children getting the health care they desperately need.

There's no real-life epidemic, or even small movement, of parents forcing their children into transition.

Thankfully, the Aldeans' opinions aren't popular. Singer Cassadee Pope didn't tag Aldean in her tweet, but also didn't mince words in letting people know her opinion on the issue.

"You'd think celebs with beauty brands would see the positives in including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging," she tweeted. "But instead here we are, hearing someone compare their 'tomboy phase' to someone wanting to transition. Real nice."

Country superstar Maren Morris also added her opinion to the controversy saying, "It's so easy to, like, not be a scumbag human? Sell your clip-ins and zip it, Insurrection Barbie."

Unfortunately, Morris' tweet got the attention of conservative pundit Candace Owens, who threw out all semblance of rationality in her response. "It's easier to not castrate your children," she wrote. "But I guess whatever helps sell bad records."

Morris could hardly believe that Owens showed up to offer her unwanted opinion. "Oh my god, not you. My Grammy is positively sobbing right now," she said. (Morris has 14 Grammy nominations and a win for Best Country Solo Performance for her song "My Church.")

"Also, why do y'all always go to 'castration' and 'pedophiles' to try and shut an argument down?" she continued. "It's honestly concerning and worth looking into."

Conservatives have been resorting to calling trans people and the doctors and parents who help them pedophiles and groomers recently as none of their other arguments hold much water and the only way to get attention is to use scary buzzwords and hope to cause a moral panic.

Queer folk singer Joy Oladokun didn't hold back at all when she chimed in, retweeting Pope's tweet and adding her own commentary. "Waking up happy that my parents didn't raise me to be as rude and nasty as @brittanyaldean," she wrote.

Trans youth have been one of the biggest targets for conservatives and right-wingers over the last few years, and it's wonderful to be seeing these big stars standing up for them.
