RuPaul's Drag Race star Kornbread "The Snack" Jete shared with her fans on Sunday that she has been diagnosed with cancer.
The 30-year-old drag queen took to social media to share the news that she has "adenocarcinoma" which is "a type of cancer in the smaller intestine," her note reads. "I'm 100% fine and everything is in the early stages so I'll be back to my normal self in no time. Absolutely curable!"
According to Cancer.gov, adenocarcinoma is a tumor that "forms in the glandular tissue, which lines certain internal organs and makes and releases substances in the body, such as mucus, digestive juices, and other fluids." As Jete said, it is curable, especially if caught early.
She goes on to advise fans to go to the doctor regularly and that she'll be performing again in no time.
"I say this to let everyone know that no matter how young you are PLEASE GET REGULAR check-ups. I'm glad I caught mine at this stage. A lot of health things will be changing for me and I'm grateful for all the support. Ready to get back to the stage again!"
Jete initially competed on Drag Race's fourteenth season earlier this year but exited the show early because of an ankle injury. While fans expected her to return to season 15 to continue her fight for the crown, she announced in March that she would not be.
"My run on season 14 was nothing short of AMAZING. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Season 15 of RuPaul's Drag Race," she said at the time. "Great things ahead! I love and appreciate you all for the support. Let's make magic!"
And to get ahead of any other rumors, she continued: "And no I'm not on anybody's All Stars. Wasn't my decision :)"
It's not clear if Jete's health or production was in the way, but we're impatiently awaiting her television return. In the meantime, Jete will appear in Disney's upcoming Hocus Pocus sequel alongside Ginger Minj and Kahmora Hall.
Get well soon queen!
