Grande starred as Glinda in one of the year's biggest movies, Wicked, opposite Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Even though fans have been shipping the characters Glinda and Elphaba since the original Wicked novel was released, some fans are now going as far as to suggest that the actors playing them are in love themselves.
The two stars have been thick as a pair of Ozian thieves on the press tour, crying, hugging, and holding each other's fingers. In fact, the press tour has been so emotional and intimate that "people think we're secretly married," Grande says in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
While Grande knew that people shipped "the Gelphie stuff," she wasn't prepared for just how much or how fervently the fandom would embrace her and Erivo. "I wish I could unsee some things," she said. "I mean, wow, I had a feeling, but I didn't know it would be on this scale, or this graphic."
The press tour for the first Wicked movie is over... but Erivo and Grande will once again be holding space for each other when the press tour for the sequel begins.
Wicked: For Good opens Nov. 21 in theaters.
