Disgraced Call Me by Your Name star Armie Hammer reveals he can't afford gas, has to sell beloved truck

The actor took to his Instagram account to share an... interesting new video opening up the rising costs of fuel prices.

The state of the economy is hitting Armie Hammer's gas tank hard.

The once in-demand actor andCall Me by Your Name star took to his Instagram account on Tuesday to reveal that he is selling his beloved pickup truck because, in his own words, he can't afford the rising costs of gasoline anymore.

"I've been back in LA for a couple of weeks now, this is my truck," Hammer said in a video post he shared to his account, which he appears to have been filmed in the parking lot of a local CarMax, a national vehicle retail chain that specializes in buying and and selling used cars. "I bought this for myself in 2017 as a Christmas gift for myself. I have loved this truck intensely and taken it camping and across the country multiple times and on long road trips, and I took it for one last road trip to CarMax. This is because I’m selling my truck."

According to Hammer, the reason he's selling his truck (a GMC Sierra Denali) is because he simply can't afford how much it costs to fill up the tank at the gas station.

"Since being back in LA, I have put about 4 or 500 dollars worth of gas in it, and I can't afford it," he confesses in the video. "I can't afford the gas anymore."

He then closes out the video by saying that he got a new hybrid car to get around and that, since it's his birthday week (he turns 38 today, August 28), he's looking forward to "new beginnings" with his "new car, new apartment, and a new life in Los Angeles."

The bizarre video about Hammer and his fuel-related financial woes is just the latest move in a recent attempt at a redemption tour following the massive fall from grace that happened in 2021 when the Golden Globe nominee was accused of abuse, rape, and cannibalism.

Earlier this summer, Hammer appeared on the Painful Lessons podcast and broke his silence about all those allegations for the first time since they first came to light.

"People called me a cannibal. Like I ate people! What???? You know what you have to do to be a cannibal? You have to eat people!" Hammer told host Tyler Ramsey at the time.

Back in 2021, Hammer was accused of raping a woman in 2017. Around the same time those allegations were made, other people came forward and shared alleged texts and direct messages from the actor that detailed violent sexual fantasies involving cannibalism and murder. In the alleged messages, Hammer shared these fantasies, saying he wanted to do things like "breaking your bones," "cut a piece of your skin off and make you cook it for me," "I want to see your brain, your blood, your organs, every part of you," and "I need your blood. I want you to feed me with it."

Though he withdrew from the public eye and was dropped from the multiple film and television projects he was attached to following the controversy, it seems like Hammer is trying to make a public comeback... by letting people know he can't afford gas.
