We're still processing the mind-blowing and very queer experience of seeing X-Men '97 on Disney+. While it was still airing — and even more after its season finale — series creator and writer Beau DeMayo has been receiving a wave of love and gratitude for the project.

Just days before the premiere of X-Men '97, DeMayo was reportedly fired from the show for still-unknown reasons. This resulted in a total lockdown of DeMayo's social media accounts for some time. Then, in March 2024, DeMayo started to slowly re-appear on social media with his usual geeky posts about the Marvel Comics universe, engaging with his fans and followers, and obviously sharing the thirst traps he's always been known to do!

A lot of factors are still uncertain about X-Men '97. We're not exactly sure how Marvel Studios and Disney+ will move forward with a second season without DeMayo's involvement, and we're also still trying to understand what happened for the creator to get fired in the first place.
