Actors Both and Newyear got engaged after Thailand passed marriage equality
Earlier this June, Thailand became the first Southeast Asian country to legalize marriage equality, and grant married queer couples the same legal rights as heterosexual ones.
Now, one of the nation's favorite same-sex couples is exercising their right by getting engaged!
Thai actors Newyear Kitiwhut and Both Nuttapong have now gotten engaged following their home country's legalization of gay marriage.
The two have been together since they met on Instagram in 2012. They also starred as a gay couple in the popular Thai drama Top Secret Together and work as content creators and YouTubers. In a video shared on TikTok, Both can be seen getting down on one knee while wearing a tan colored suit, causing Newyear to cover his mouth with shock and excitement. After Both led Newyear into a room filled with flowers and photographers, he gave a bouquet to Newyear and then dropped down and popped the question.
Pulling out a box from Tiffany's with an engagement ring, Both brought Newyear to tears as the couple cemented their union with legal recognition.
The couple shared the happy news in an Instagram post, saying, "B: Will you marry me? NY: I said 'yes' from the first day we met."
There are several beautiful pictures of the happy couple during and right after the engagement.
The pair had previously gotten engaged in September of 2023, before same-sex marriage was legal in their country.
They shared pictures of the two of them embracing each other and wearing matching rings with the caption, "Say yes from the first day 13.9."
Now, they're doing it again as their relationship will officially be recognized by the Thai government.
