September 23 is Bisexual Visibility Day, and we are so excited to celebrate it with you!
Bisexuals are a valued part of the LGBTQ+ community who must never be erased or forgotten.
According to the latest Gallup polls, 7.6 percent of Americans identify as LGBTQ+, and bisexuals are the largest part of that, making up 57 percent of LGBTQ+ adults and 4.4 percent of the overall US population.
While other labels like "queer" have become more popular over the years, plenty of people still identify as bisexual. Here are four who came out this year!
1. Maren Morris
Country and pop singer Maren Morris has long been a vocal LGBTQ+ ally, but this year, after divorcing her husband Ryan Hurd, she came out as bisexual after a concert in Phoenix, Arizona. She posted a picture of her waving a Pride Flag at the concert, saying, "Happy to be the B in LGBTQ+. Happy Pride."
2. Taylor Tomlinson
Tomlinson is the latest late night host, helming After Midnight on CBS, and this year, she came out as bisexual in her comedy special Taylor Tomlinson: Have It All.
In the special, she was talking about her dating life when she joked about how hard it is to date straight men "when you're surrounded by three queer relationships up close."
"So, anyway, I’ve been trying to figure out if I’m bisexual, or if I just binged Euphoria too fast," she quipped. "Cause I’ve been trying to date women, but it is so hard. I don’t know how to get women to like me."
"It’s scary to just say you’re bisexual, cause then someone’s always like, 'fuckin' prove it. Here’s a picture of Margot Robbie, are you wet? Let me feel,'" she continued.
3. Ayesha Madon
Heartbreak High star and singer Ayesha Madon came out as bisexual in an interview with Gay Times this year.
"When I was growing up, I felt myself being conditioned or gaslighted into thinking that I was straight. I look back now at all these signs that I’ve had crushes on girls my whole life but in my head, I was like 'Oh that's just nothing!'" she said.
"I only kind of properly admitted, out loud, that I was bisexual two or three years ago. It feels recent. It's pretty interesting watching myself be attracted to [girls]. My first kiss was with a girl. I’ve actually never spoken about my sexuality before in anything, so this is pretty new," she added.
4. "Dirty Bulk" Bronson
Pro wrestler Joe Fitzpatrick, better known by his stage name "Dirty Bulk" Bronson, came out as bisexual on X (formerly Twitter) this past Pride Month.
His fiancée, Gabby Forza, is also a wrestler, and shared a post on X celebrating Pride Month and reaffirming that she is bisexual/pansexual and queer. Bronson retweeted it with his own picture and a bisexual flag, signaling to the world that he is also bisexual.
