"They always say this but it’s very true, if I had waited any longer, I could have died," the Who's the Boss actor revealed on Instagram Sunday.

Danny Pintauro is asking fans to "keep me in your prayers for the next few days" as he recovers from a devastating scooter accident that resulted in emergency surgery.

The Who's the Boss actor revealed on Instagram Sunday that he was out riding on Thanksgiving night when the bike lane he was in was "suddenly blocked with cones." Though he had a "terrible scrape on my arm" and "was pretty convinced I had broken my arm," Pintauro said that "the next morning it was a whole lot better so I didn’t worry as much."

It wasn't until Pintauro began experiencing pain so intense "I could barely breathe" on Saturday that his husband, Will Tabares, drove him to the hospital, where he underwent a series of tests that revealed he had "an infection in my bloodstream due to a tear in my stomach lining — air and stomach acid, etc, were escaping into my abdomen."

"It’s been the most excruciating pain I’ve ever felt in my whole life. So I had to have emergency surgery last night to repair the tear," Pintauro said. "The surgery went well and now that it’s fixed, the pain is pretty much gone away, although I’m still very sore."

The actor added that his doctors "took the intubation tube out," but that he still has to "leave another tube in my stomach for three days to keep removing the acids so as to not upset the stitches and repair they did. Which also means that I won’t be eating or drinking anything for the next three days."

"They always say this but it’s very true, if I had waited any longer, I could have died," Pintauro continued. "My body was the one who told me something was absolutely wrong."

Pintauro, who most recently starred in the 2022 film A Country Christmas Harmony, has been married to Tabares since 2014 — over 10 years now. He gushed in his post that "my wonderful husband Will drove me here and has been by my side for the whole thing."

The actor, who has also recently been sculpting and selling Book Nooks, noted that any orders "will have to wait a few more days so I will change the shipping dates to reflect." He joked that "if anybody might wanna send me flowers, I wouldn’t be opposed," following up with "Lol just kidding."

"This is my first major surgery I, first emergency surgery EVER but I kept it together," Pintauro concluded. "It was absolutely terrifying. I’m stressed, hungry, in pain and exhausted. Light a candle for me, okay? Ohhh! They did an X-ray of my arm and it’s not broken! So there’s one bright side."
