The iconic musician recently shared that he has lost his eyesight in his right eye.
Sir Elton John once again showed why he's one of most beloved men in Hollywood.
The iconic musician and songwriter was presenting at the Golden Globes Sunday night when he gave a humorous update about losing his vision.
John was standing on stage next to fellow queer music icon Brandi Carlile to present the award for Best Film Score when he addressed recent headlines about the issue.
"I don't know if you know, but there's been a lot of stories going around about my regressive eyesight, and I just wanted to reassure everybody that it's not as bad as it seems," John said. "So, I'm so pleased to be here with my co-host, Rihanna."
John and Carlile recently collaborated on the song "Never Too Late," which inspired the name of John's new Disney+ documentary Elton John: Never Too Late.
In November of 2024, John revealed in an interview that he has been losing his eyesight.
"I unfortunately lost my eyesight in my right eye in July, because I had an infection in the south of France. It's been four months now since I haven't been able to see," John told Good Morning America's Robin Roberts. "My left eye is not the greatest. There's hope and encouragement that it will be OK, but I'm kind of stuck in the moment."
"I can do something like this… but going into the studio and recording, I don't know. I can't see a lyric, for a start," he continued. "We're taking an initiative to try and get it better. But, at the moment, that's really what we're concentrating on. It's never fortunate for anything like this to happen, and it kind of floored me. I can't see anything. I can't read anything. I can't watch anything."
John and Carlile then announced Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross as the winners of the Golden Globe for their score for Challengers.
Elton John: Never Too Late is streaming on Disney+. The 82nd Golden Globe Awards ceremony was broadcast live on CBS and Paramount+.
