Nicholas Galitzine is looking blond and beefy in new photos leaked from the set of Amazon MGM Studio’s Masters of the Universe, in which he portrays the lead Prince Adam (a.k.a. He-Man).
Production on the long-awaited project directed by Travis Knight (Bumblebee) kicked off this week, and it didn’t take long for spies to give us our first sneak peeks on social media. In the photos provided by Deuxmoi’s Instagram account, the Red, White & Royal Blue star is rocking an unmistakable blond bob and looking jacked as ever, even with clothes on. Galitzine can be seen donning a pink shirt — clearly a modernized nod to the outfit adorned by Prince Adam in the original He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon from the 1980s.
The photos also reveal a glimpse of the iconic Power Sword, which appears to be a near-perfect replica of the magical weapon from the beloved cartoon series. As many fans are aware, the Power Sword is what gives Adam his “fabulous secret powers,” allowing him to transform into his alter ego: the muscle-bound warrior known as He-Man.
For those worried about the contemporary Earth setting seen in the photos, don’t be too alarmed. While the imagery of Prince Adam being arrested and put into a police car might echo bad memories of 1987’s much maligned Masters of the Universe film starring Dolph Lundgren — which was set entirely on Earth — the leaked photos do align with the film’s official synopsis, which promises action in the fantastical world of Eternia.
Per the official synopsis provided by Mattel, the film will follow “10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword — the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
As of present, photos of Galitzine in his scantily clad He-Man form complete with the iconic metal harness and loincloth have yet to be leaked. And we can’t wait to get a glimpse of his chiseled new physique, something the actor took very seriously in preparation for the role.
During a January 2024 interview with W Magazine, the hunky heartthrob opened up about his grueling fitness regimen so he can transform into He-Man, “the most powerful man in the universe.”
“No pressure, I just have to embody the strongest man in the universe,” he joked with the outlet. “There’s been a lot of eating and weightlifting, a lot of stunts. I’m eating about 4,000 calories a day, but the amount of physical work I’m doing, you end up hungry at the end of the day, which is quite surprising. This is the fun part. I will eventually go into what’s called the cutting phase, where I'm going to be starved and so rude to everyone. I can only apologize for the person I'm going to become in a few months’ time.”
Galitzine won’t be the only star who’s playing a chiseled warrior or evil warlord in Masters of the Universe either. The actor was also recently seen training with two of his co-stars, including Camla Mendes as Teela and Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man. But when you’re starring in a franchise based on a line of so many action figures with bulging pecs and biceps, can you really blame them? From what’s been revealed so far, the filmmakers are really nailing the look of these characters, so it’s also reassuring to see the actors getting into beast mode for their roles.
Other stars rounding out the juggernaut cast include Jared Leto as the nefarious Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Morena Baccarin as the Sorceress, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson as Malcolm/Fisto, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops.
Masters of the Universe arrives in theaters on June 5, 2026.
