Fans are sticking up for the actor amidst a police investigation.

The obsession with Saltburn’s bathwater scene may have finally gone too far.

Jacob Elordi is involved in an investigation into an alleged assault on a radio producer who approached him in Sydney, Australia, to play a prank that reportedly didn’t go over very well.

KIIS FM’s Joshua Fox allegedly approached Elordi outside of his hotel with a jar labeled “Jacob Elordi’s Bath Water,” a reference to a heavily discussed scene from his recent film, Saltburn, and jokingly asked the actor to fill it up so he could give it to Jackie, of the radio station’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show, for her birthday.

Audio released by Fox containing part of this alleged incident features Elordi initially entertaining Fox’s approach, but ultimately asking him to stop recording once he realizes that’s what’s happening. During an appearance on The Kyle & Jackie O Show, Fox said that he stopped filming but declined to delete the footage upon the actor’s request, claiming that he felt “intimidated.”

“I’m backed against this wall, he’s right in my face and his two boys are now on either side of me. (…) It was kind of scary,” he claimed. “And then Jacob kind of just flips and he kind of pushes me against the wall and his hands are on my throat.”

New South Wales Police confirmed to Varietythat they are investigating an incident that matches the description provided by the producer. Even though Elordi has yet to publicly comment or acknowledge these allegations, fans who heard Fox's account of what went down expressed frustration with the way people seem entitled to harass and film celebrities on the street at random.

While this may be a case of two wrongs don’t make a right — depending on what, precisely, actually went down — these fans sharing posts on social media do make valid points… again, if this is really what happened as recollected by Fox.

For his part, Fox is insisting on his version of the facts and doesn't want to press charges. “Maybe next time someone speaks to you on the street, don’t grab them, allegedly,” he added, addressing Elordi.
