Only three days in, and we are LOVING this Pride Month so far!
32-year-old actress Jessica Madsen, best known for playing Cressida Cowper in all three seasons of Bridgerton, has kicked off her own Pride Month with a coming-out post.
"In Love with a woman, loud about it and proud about it! [rainbow emoji]," Madsen wrote in the caption. She also hashtagged the post with #pride, #pridemonth, #loveislove, and #gaypride.
In the Bridgerton series, many fans ship the characters of Cressida and Eloise Bridgerton (played by Claudia Jessie) to become a couple. Though there hasn't been any significant development on that storyline yet, the first part of season 3 slightly advances that potential showmance a bit.
Madsen has received a bunch of supportive comments on her post.
Julia Quinn (the author of the Bridgerton series of books) chimed in with a wide array of heart emojis with the colors of the rainbow flag. Jonathan Bailey left a comment with heart emojis. Hannah Dodd replied, "Love youuuu [heart emoji]." Joanna Bobin wrote, "Go baby girl! Love you." Nicola Coughlan also left a bunch of heart emojis in a comment.
After receiving so many wonderful comments, Madsen herself took to the comments, writing: "WOW thank you all for your beautiful messages [heart emoji] [rainbow emoji]."
On April 17, Bridgerton showrunner Jess Brownell told PRIDE — Out's sister publication — that they're actively exploring a queer storyline for the flagship series. Brownell explained:
"I want to see more queer joy on my screens, and that was definitely a priority for me when I stepped into the showrunner role."
We couldn't be happier — congratulations to Madsen!
Bridgerton season 3 part 1 is now streaming on Netflix. Part 2 is scheduled to premiere on Thursday, June 13.
