“I’m so into quads right now!” – a character from Riverdale, probably.
On Saturday, October 21, Joel Kim Booster was honored by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) with a Visibility Award during the organization’s 2023 San Francisco Bay Area dinner event. His Fire Island costar, Zane Phillips, delivered a speech to introduce Booster to the stage.
After receiving the Visibility Award, Booster shared a kiss with Phillips on stage. Booster then shared a picture of their kiss via Instagram and wrote in the caption:
“Honored to be this year’s [Human Rights Campaign] Visibility Award recipient. Doing my best at all times to use my modest platform to make all gay guys seem like sex-crazed drug addicts and I personally think I’m killing it. Thank you again to [Zane Phillips] for introducing me, and for kissing me on the mouth in front of his boyfriend. Hard launching my campaign to ruin the relationship from the inside.”

For context, Booster has been dating game producer John-Michael Kelly for a few years now. In turn, Phillips started dating fellow actor Froy Gutierrez in 2023. But Booster and Phillips sharing a kiss in public is obviously not a problem for a lot of gays – particularly gays with a sense of humor.
“Come on [John-Michael Kelly] let’s get ‘em,” Gutierrez wrote in the comments section. Phillips replied to his boyfriend’s comment with, “Quad squad rights are human rights.” Booster had an even better suggestion in response: “Boyfriend swap!”
We stan and support all of these ideas. Keep that energy going, boys!
