Stars Jonathan Bailey, Matt Bomer, Paul Mescal, and Andrew Scott have had Gay Twitter salivating this year, but when the four men all came together for a photo last month, they nearly broke the internet.
Now, weeks later, we’re finally getting the story of how a photo of this impossibly hot quartet came to be.
In a BuzzFeed “Puppy Interview” video released Friday, Bomer and Bailey — who play covert gay lovers in the historical thriller Fellow Travelers — sat on the floor cuddling with puppies while they opened up about everything from unique nicknames (Bomer’s was “Boatmeal”) to what their characters' love languages are.
But it was their story about the photo that has everyone in a chokehold that piqued our interest.
Bailey explained that we have a press junket to thank for it. After the SAG-AFTRA strike ended, a bunch of actors came to the same hotel for interviews, and Mescal and Scott — who play lovers in the supernatural drama All of Us Strangers — happened to be downstairs. Their teams brought them together, where the foursome met and snapped a photo that pop culturist Evan Ross Katz then posted to Instagram.
“My absolute favorite is the comment that went with the picture that said, ‘this is what it would be like if the hobbits in the Shire got Zara,’” Bailey said, causing Bomber to collapse in laughter. Talk about cute!
The other comments under the Instagram post are also hilarious and oh so relatable. One fan wrote, "They should make gay Sex and the City with these 4."
"Jesus make me an iron railing in my next life…" another person commented.
"I can take them all! (Not in a fight)," someone else said.
"Someone do an elder check on Ryan Murphy!!," a fan quipped.
Getting three hot gay actors (and an ally who excels at playing gay characters) together at one time feels like gay history in the making. Plus, they all have such babygirl energy that we melt every time we see the photo.
If only we could get them in front of a camera with Pedro Pascal, Jacob Elordi, Barry Keoghan, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and Nicholas Galitzine, our fantasy would be complete.
