2025 has proven to be a very difficult year for the LGBTQ+ community under President Donald Trump's leadership in the United States.
Despite all of the challenges that queer people are continuing to face, many out and proud celebrities who attended the 36th Annual GLAAD Media Awards made it clear that they're not going anywhere.
In the grand tradition of the legendary documentary Paris Is Burning, outspoken LGBTQ+ stars decided to open the library and read down the Republican Party on the GLAAD red carpet. Scroll below to see the witty responses that'll have mouths on the floor.
"Your ass-backwards behavior needs to be turned around, because let's face it, that's what you all really want anyway."
"The Republican Party is so focused on our genitalia more than they're focused on their own children. It doesn't even make any sense. Why are you obsessed with us? They're obsessed with the dolls. Straight men are confused and they either want to be a doll or they want the dolls."
"I would never be in that library. I try to skip that street overall. We're rent-free in their minds. They're definitely not rent-free in our minds. If you really dig into it, we're not that much different from each other. A lot of that stuff is unfortunately taught at a young age. No one is born racist or a bigot or transphobic. It's unfortunately taught by other people. We just want to be loved and respected and get along with each other. It's a shame they don't see that."
"Didn't [Rep.] Jasmine [Crockett] say Governor Hot Wheels [referring to Gov. Greg Abbott]? We love that! It's OK because he's terrible. It's not ableist!"
"Do better. Try harder. Protect your text conversations. Everything's not a group text girls."
"Whatever you're doing that you think you're doing to someone else, you're doing to yourself. My rights are your rights, so whatever you take away from me, you're taking away from yourself."
"Come out of the closet! Come on and join the party. We know that's what y'all want to do."
"My read would probably be something about how they can't vome out of the closet and go shopping, because you look terrible."
"Fix your mug. Fix your policies. Nobody needs any of the energy you're putting into the world. You're toxic. You're disgusting. I hate you. I hate everything about you. I really hope that someday you grow up and you stop obsessing over people who are not obsessed with you. In fact, we want nothing to do with you. I would love to never have to talk to a single one of you ever again for the rest of my life. Please, f**k off," Williamson says.
"Also, Republican Party, you cannot be mean and dumb and ugly. Choose one," Halbach adds.
