The Mean Girls are back!
A new ad for Walmart has reunited most of the cast of the classic comedy film Mean Girls, showing us where the characters are now!
The commercial acts as a de facto sequel to the classic film, showing us where many of the characters are now in their lives.
“At Northshore, some things never change,” Cady Heron’s voiceover says at the start of the ad. “On Wednesdays we still wear pink.”
Now, Gretchen has become the “cool mom,” driving her daughter – the leader of the new Plastics – around town. Cady is the new guidance counselor at the school, helping new students go through the same things she went through.
Karen, as we saw at the end of the film, is now a meteorologist for the news, and she’s still using her observational powers. “There’s a 30% chance it’s already Wednesday,” she says.
Two of the original film’s queer stars also show up! First, Rajiv Surendra shows up as Kevin G, with his son, Kevin Jr. Then, later, the “Too Gay To Function” icon Damien (played by Daniel Fanzese) also makes an appearance!
Not every cameo is from the Mean Girls universe. Instead of seeing Coach Carr from the original film telling us about the dangers of sex, music icon Missy Elliott steps into the role!

The end of the ad teases that “something fetch is coming next Wednesday.” Could this be the official trailer for the upcoming Mean Girls musical movie starring queer icons including Reneé Rapp as Regina George, Auli’i Cravalho as Janis, and Jaquel Spivey as Damien?!
The musical movie, based on the Broadway play, is set to be theatrically released on January 12. It also stars Angourie Rice as Cady Heron, Bebe Wood, Avantika Vandanapu, Christopher Briney, Tina Fey, Tim Meadows, Jenna Fischer, Busy Philipps, and Jon Hamm.
