Social media influencers Max Emerson and Andrés Camilo announced Monday that they're separating after being together for nine years. This split follows the couple getting engaged in August 2023, starting the process of adopting a child in June 2024, and revealing that they've lost their home during the 2025 Los Angeles fires.

The couple shared this announcement jointly as an Instagram post, which reads:
"After nine years together we've decided to separate. The fire that took our home accelerated this decision by giving us clarity and simplicity. We were already beginning to explore different paths — this tragedy is serving as a catalyst for a clean break."
"It's time to start again, as individuals," the statement concludes. "Our time together wasn't wasted. We still love each other fully, deeply, and unconditionally. That love doesn't end; it evolves. We are [parting] ways with respect and gratitude, carrying forward all that we've learned."
In the comments section of this joint announcement, LGBTQ+ celebs like David Burtka, Devin Way, Drag Race star Derrick Barry, and Mila Jam have all shared sweet messages comforting the couple during this difficult time.
"Thought you guys were going to be forever," Barry wrote. "'It evolves' got me all teary eyed. And I’m so sorry to hear about your home too. Wishing you both a healing & happy journey ahead."
With a combined Instagram following that exceeds 1.5 million people, Emerson and Camilo have been a popular gay couple on social media for many years.
Emerson recently launched a brand-new podcast, Stuff Every Queer Kid Should Know, which featured two episodes with Camilo. In turn, Camilo has focused on promoting his work as a multimedia artist, as well as his modeling career.
