We're entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe's queerest era yet!
Out's Raffy Ermac got to chat with Smile 2 star Miles Gutierrez-Riley about playing Joe Locke's love interest in Disney+'s Agatha All Along and bringing more queer representation to the MCU. With the debut of Agatha All Along, the Marvel world is gayer than ever before, and Gutierrez-Riley is contributing to the new era in Marvel alongside Locke.
Miles Gutierrez-Riley had nothing but praise for Locke, calling him the industry's new "It boy," adding, "People love Heartstopper. It was amazing to work alongside him. He's so young and so wise. He really has a great head on his shoulders. I learned so much working with him. He made me laugh all the time."
On being a part of the new era in Marvel, Gutierrez-Riley said:
"It means the world. The MCU is massive, and it touches so many people because it's personal and the fact that representation is authentic and coming from creators that actually care about the stories they're telling and can relate to them. It means the world and I haven't taken it for granted from the second I got the call. I'm really honored to be a part of it in this way."
With both Gutierrez-Riley and Locke leading the way, it's clear the MCU is headed for a very gay future, and all we can say is it's about damn time!
Smile 2 hits theaters on Friday, October 18.
