Did Nicholas Galitzine just soft launch his girlfriend? Here's what the internet thinks

Some fans argue that claiming he's straight is "twink erasure."

Stans are gonna stan.

Fans of actor Nicholas Galitzine, who has delighted viewers by playing gay in Red, White & Royal Blue and the upcoming Mary & George on Starz, and appeared in the deeply queer movie Bottoms, love to imagine that (like many of his characters) the actor is gay.

This is despite the fact that he has never expressed that he is gay, has mentioned girlfriends in interviews, and prefers to keep his private life private.

Now, an Instagram story post that the 29-year-old actor shared is sparking a debate amongst his fans: did he just come out as straight?

Galitzine posted an image to his Instagram story, seemingly showing his hand holding another, smaller hand. There are no clues other than that. Still, many people are seeing this as Galitzine soft launching a relationship with a woman.

Obviously, this is not serious. Galitzine shared a picture of two hands holding each other. They could be two male hands, one male and one female, a nonbinary hand, they could be lovers or friends, they could even be his own two hands!

Furthermore, bisexuality, pansexuality, and queerness exist as spectrums, and even if Galitzine is currently dating a woman, that doesn’t necessarily mean anything about his sexuality.

Finally, an actor’s sexuality and private life aren’t the business of fans. Yes, we joke, but we also respect Galitzine’s privacy and right to be open about what aspects of his life he wants to be.

Now, lets laugh at some of the funny things gay fans have been saying about the picture.

Mary & George premieres April 5 on STARZ.
