Congratulations are in order to the newlyweds!

Zeke Smith, best known as the first-ever trans man to compete on Survivor, has just married Nico Santos, who’s starred on shows like Superstore and films like Crazy Rich Asians. The couple had been together for six years.

The couple’s wedding ceremony took place on Saturday, November 4 in Palm Springs, California. Smith told People:

“For us, we’ve been together for almost six years. We own a home together, have a joint bank account. We’re each other’s emergency contacts. By all sorts of usual metrics, we are married. But actually having the ceremony, making it legal, it’s about becoming a family. We’re in it forever. Through thick and thin and easy and hard. We’re going to be the person that’s there for the other one."

Santos and Smith got engaged on-stage at the GLAAD Media Awards in April 2022. After they delivered their speeches about LGBTQ+ representation in media, Smith dropped down to one knee and proposed to Santos. Talk about a scene straight out of a rom-com!

Interestingly, Smith and Santos’ wedding coincided with Pride Weekend in Palm Springs, which turned the whole weekend even gayer and more joyous. Santos told the publication:

“It’s a big gay wedding. A lot of our guests are queer as well, so we thought let’s just stick to the date and have it during Pride Weekend. It’ll be extra gay.”

The couple also broke down how they come from different places but had similar paths in their journeys to finding each other. Smith is from Edmond, Oklahoma, whereas Santos is from Manila, Philippines. “And yet, despite our vastly different upbringings and life stories, we’ve found a home within each other,” Santos explained.

This is absolutely fabulous news, and we couldn’t be happier for this wonderful couple!
