Crooner Omar Apollo had some words for any homophobic fans.
The Grammy-nominated singer stars alongside Daniel Craig in Luca Guadagnino's latest film Queer. Craig plays William Lee, an addict and expat living in Mexico who meets Apollo's character in a bar. The two hook up, which leads to a full-frontal scene from Apollo.
The "Evergreen" singer posted a barely censored screenshot of the scene on Instagram. "Queer available on streaming now for all the dLs that didn't wanna go to theatre," his caption reads.
While some fans were hyped — such as fellow pop star Troye Sivan asking, "What platform?" under Apollo's post — other Instagram users apparently unfollowed the singer because of the photo.
Apollo addressed this mass unfollowing via an Instagram story he posted on Wednesday.
"I'm losing followers for posting this," he wrote with three crying laughing emojis. "Unfollow me if ur a homophobe. You're not my target audience. I will never make myself 'palatable'. This isn't my life, i AM life. Stupid."
Apollo spoke about his appearance in the film with Out in December 2024. "I got the call, and [they] told me about the scene and how explicit it was. I instantly just said yes," he shared. "I was like, Yeah, of course. It’s Daniel Craig. Of course, I'm down. I wasn't really fearful or anything. I was like, It's kind of my reality. It’s not something that's new to me."
The role was Apollo's first film appearance, and he was thrilled to be a part of the movie. "It was exciting to do something, especially when it comes to skin and bodily physical contact, It’s nice to trust somebody that shoots those kinds of scenes, so intimate and beautifully. So I trusted everyone on set and it was really easy and fun."
Apollo has not confirmed — or denied! — whether he wore a prosthetic in the scene. On the other hand, the singer has bared it all before for the back cover art of his 2023 EP Live For Me.
