Paulie Calafiore is living in his truth.
The reality TV star is known for his competitive edge on popular shows like Big Brother and The Challenge.
On the current season of The Challenge: USA, Calafiore came out as bisexual and is now opening up on his journey to accepting his queer identity.
"I had so much anxiety leading up to [my coming out.] I've been getting flooded by so many people from all different walks of life. I didn't realize how much that representation matters and it does matter. I'm seeing that now," Calafiore tells Out.
While this is a big personal milestone for Calafiore, the star is also staying true to his roots and the person he's always been.
"I want to move forward and just be who I am. I want to express who I am. I still want to be Paulie and I want people to understand that I'm a fierce competitor and I'm a badass. Now, I'm a bisexual badass!"
One of Calafiore's biggest supporters is his girlfriend Cara Maria Sorbello, who's also a popular contestant from The Challenge and a member of the LGBTQ+ community.
"I would say I'm very fortunate. I feel like a lot of the conversations and questions that might be a little difficult in that situation for a lot of people just weren't. I am getting a lot of messages from couples who are like that... married, kids, and everything. They feel so validated. We should go back to being a melting pot and that includes everybody just living their truth and live it amongst each other."
