People's annual Sexiest Man Alive is about to be announced, and in the buildup, the longtime celebrity-centered news publication is announcing several other winners of Sexiest [Blank] alive, as voted on by readers.
There's one big problem: only one gay man is on the list.
People just announced the 15 winners of its Sexiest Man Alive 2024 Readers' Choice Poll, and the results are very white and very straight.
The lone gay man on the list is out actor Jonathan Bailey, who was voted "Sexiest Fiyero," based on the character he is playing in the upcoming musical film Wicked.
"All of these guys are Wicked-ly handsome, but it's Jonathan Bailey's Fiyero in the upcoming movie adaptation that had your hearts defying gravity," his entry says.
We have to ask... how did no other gays make the list? We live in the era of sexy men like Colman Domingo, Omar Apollo, Ncuti Gatwa, Joel Kim Booster, and Matt Bomer are all working and slaying the entertainment industry, and yet, none of them made the readers' choice list?
"Sexiest Handy Man" went to Chip Gaines, but where are Queer Eye's Bobby Berk and Jeremiah Brent?
Yes, Shemar Moore is hot, but for "Gen SeXiest," we would've voted for the aforementioned Colman Domingo who, at 54 years old, is aging like a fine wine.
We're also stunned that Jeremy Allen White, who only has six very small tattoos was voted "Sexiest Tattoos" over men like Ricky Martin, Orville Peck, and Kyle Krieger! Do people think his The Bear character's tattoos are real?!?
Harry Styles won for "Sexiest Musician," somehow beating out Orville Peck, Omar Apollo, Frank Ocean, and, again, Ricky Martin.
There's also the award for "Sexiest New Heartthrob," which went to Jacob Elordi. Look, we get it, but we think Doctor Who star Ncuti Gatwa should be here instead.
While "Sexiest Podcast Hosts" went to the Kelce Brothers, we'd probably give it to Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers.
Who are some of the sexiest gay men YOU think were left off the list?
