LGBTQ+ representation at the 2023 Super Bowl!
Queer Eyecast members Antoni Porowski and Jonathan Van Ness are two of the celebrities featured in the latest Super Bowl commercials from a partnership between General Motors (GM) and Netflix.
During an interview with Out, Porowski and JVN talked about Netflix and GM’s joint initiative, how excited they are to appear in Super Bowl commercials, and shared the latest status of Queer Eye season seven – even dropping hints about what fans can expect from the season.
JVN also touched on the “full-circle moment” of launching his career on Gay of Thrones – which was produced by the Will Ferrell-founded studio Funny Or Die – and now working alongside the comedian once again for this campaign. As for Porowski, who recently launched an acting career appearing in Spoiler Alert and Queen, it appears that he’s getting more adventurous than ever with his cooking skills during the upcoming seventh season of Queer Eye.
Starring Ferrell as the center of the campaign, this partnership aims to “increase the presence of EVs in Netflix-produced shows and films, where relevant, while also taking steps to enable more sustainable productions. Netflix’s commitment to increasing the presence of EVs on screen has led to GM EVs being integrated into upcoming Netflix shows – specifically, Love Is Blind, Queer Eye, and Unstable.”
Besides Queer Eye’s JVN and Porowski, these various commercials feature Netflix stars like Vanessa Lachey (Love Is Blind) and Priah Ferguson (Stranger Things), as well as the iconic masked characters from Squid Game.
