Sasha Colby is taken!
If the RuPaul’s Drag Race fandom considers Sasha Colby our mother and she starts dating a new man… does that make him our stepfather? These are the thoughts that keep us up at night.
Anyway! Miss Continental royalty, trans trailblazer, Drag Race season 15 winner, model, singer, actress, and entertainer Sasha Colby is still our current-reigning champion of season 15. She is also in the middle of touring right now with the Stripped tour, which kicked off in Calgary on Feb. 29 and is coming to a close in Honolulu on Apr. 19. Outside of her world domination, however, Sasha also managed to find love.
While attending the iconic Elton John AIDS Foundation’s 32nd Academy Awards Viewing Party in Los Angeles, Sasha spoke to The Advocate and asked if she could “hard-launch her boyfriend” during the interview. Coming into frame, Sasha’s boyfriend introduced himself as Ben, and they talked about being together for four or five months so far. Sasha and Ben met while she was in Hawaii for Pride, and he happened to be there visiting from Seattle. When asked about his experiences seeing Sasha take over the world, Ben replied:
“It’s crazy. We saw her show last night, and I was nervous. For me, this is crazy. She’s bonkers, as hopefully everyone knows. I’m just so proud of her. The show is amazing. I can’t wait to see what she does next.”
Rain City Fit
Ben doesn’t seem to have a personal Instagram account. Instead, he often shares pictures and videos from the page for his business, Rain City Fit (@raincityfit), which is a Seattle-based strength and conditioning facility. In the “about” section of a website for the company, Ben wrote the following about his life and career:
“I’ve been playing sports my whole life. In college, tired of being pushed around on the basketball court, I started lifting weights. While I quickly fell in love with working out and strengthening my body, it also became clear that so much of what we are taught about exercise is outdated or contradictory, and that there is so much more to fitness than just going to the gym and lifting the heaviest weights we can.”
Ben went on to talk about his certifications and work as a personal trainer, noting that he’s worked with all sorts of clients before — from first-timers to professional athletes. He now gets that work done through running Rain City Fit, where he is “bringing my knowledge and passion to my clients through boot camps and personal training sessions.”
We gotta say it: we’re kinda loving this new it-couple!
