RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 3 winner overall drag superstar Trixie Mattel shared a new video announcing that she and long-time partner David Silver have officially broken up. Trixie noted that she recorded this particular video while getting ready for the 2024 Out100 event on Wednesday, Dec. 11 in Los Angeles — where the Drag Race legend was honored as the Out100's Readers' Choice in the "Business" category and also performed a DJ set during the event.
In this new video shared on Monday, Dec. 30, Trixie explained:
"The other thing I had to tell you guys about… it's not like my favorite thing to bring up, but some of you have kind of figured it out and speculated for a while. David and I separated quite some time ago now. And it feels like you people who know me — but don't really know me in real life — are the last people to know about it. Everybody in my world has known about it for quite some time."
The Drag Race star continued, "It feels crazy that I haven't come clean on the internet yet, but I was waiting for the right moment and the right way. [But] the longer I waited, the longer it was like weird that I hadn't said anything. And then, you know, my break came and went. I worry about talking about things like this because I learned from going on break that even me saying 'I need a break' gets written about and stuff."

"And I wish [the reason for the breakup] was like fabulous, and dramatic, and sensational. I wish there was more to say. But this isn't salacious. It's just… it happened. I, like, rehearsed how I was going to talk about this on camera a whole bunch of times. I didn't know what I was gonna say."
Trixie went on:
"It was a very long relationship and a lot of parts of it will always make me very happy… it just feels like I haven't told you fine people, and it's very old news now, in a way. Like, it's not old, but it is old. It feels old in the sense of, like, taking a break and lots of exercise and therapy and processing. It feels like a million years ago now, but it's just hard for me because I feel like welcoming everybody into my personal life. I got the privilege of making shows, and telling you guys a compelling love story in my life, and it felt disappointing to not be able to, like, make good on that. It feels like telling you guys that there's no Santa Claus, in a way, but I really care about that person."
"I will always care about that person," Trixie added. "I love our motel. I love all of our business ventures. Being creative together, with him, was especially one of the heights of my life. You know, all my exes, everybody I've ever been with, [they don't] really leave my orbit. I really, still always care about these people… and, like I said, it's not fresh information."
The All Stars 3 winner concluded:
"I'm happy to tell you guys now, but it's a new year, [and] it's a new vibe. I hate even having to say it, but I also didn't want to go into the new year and continue to not have mentioned it."
Trixie and David started dating in 2016, as reported by People. Over the last eight years, Drag Race stans have watched them moving in together, sharing social media posts of each other, and even opening up business ventures.
Just a few months ago, on July 2024, fans watched season 2 of Max's Trixie Motel (dubbed Drag Me Home) where the couple searched for a new home and renovated the property together. David Silver also produced Trixie's 2019 documentary film Moving Parts, which documented the drag superstar's journey while All Stars 3 was airing on television.
In the full video, Trixie literally expressed that she doesn't want to turn this breakup into something bigger than it is.
