After 146 days, the Writers Guild of America (WGA) has finally been able to reach a fair deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP), which means that the writers’ strike of 2023 is now coming to an end.
According to reports, top Hollywood executives like Bob Iger (The Walt Disney Company), David Zaslav (Warner Bros. Discovery), Donna Langley (NBCUniversal), and Ted Sarandos (Netflix) were all present during these final negotiations. On Sunday, September 24, the WGA and the AMPTP agreed on a tentative deal.
It’s important to point out that the legal terminology of this new deal is still being worked out. Moreover, the Screen Actors Guild (SGA) strike is still going on. Essentially, this means that writers will soon be able to resume work on TV and film projects, but actors are still striking for a fair deal that tends to their specific concerns.
Nonetheless, there are a lot of reasons to celebrate that the WGA has reached what is being described as an “exceptional” deal for Hollywood writers. Now, celebrities are sharing their reactions to the end of this WGA strike.
