The award-winning comedian has a new comedy special coming out very soon.

Jerrod Carmichael is coming back with another stand-up special from HBO!

Carmichael, who came out as gay in his last special for the network, Rothaniel, is back — this time with a new comedy special titled Don't Be Gay.

Not much is known about the special right now, but Nina Rosenstein, Executive Vice President, HBO Programming, Late Night and Specials, says in a release that "this new special continues to build" on the "raw," "intimate," and "emotionally honest" impact that his last special Rothaniel, and his recent series on the network, Jerrod Carmichael Reailty Show, had.

In his most recent special, 2022's Rothaniel, also for HBO, Carmichael came out as gay.

The then 34-year-old comedian said that growing up, he felt "like a liar" because he "had a secret."

That secret? That he is gay.

"I rebelled against it my whole life. I thought I’d never, ever come out," Carmichael said in the special. "At many points I thought I’d rather die than confront the truth of that, to actually say it to people. Because I know it changes some people’s perceptions of me. I can’t control that."

He would go on to win an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for Rothaniel.

"I wanted to win, I'm happy I won," Carmichael said in his speech. "I made something that was of great personal consequence to me, and this definitely contributes to the meaning of it."

Following that special, Carmichael starred in the Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show, a comedy documentary series, also on HBO.

In one episode, Carmichael and rapper Tyler, the Creator had an extremely awkward conversation about Carmichael's crush on Tyler.

"Getting news like that and then avoiding it is a way to avoid change," Tyler said in the episode. "That was a lot to download, and now we’re here. And I still don’t know how to respond."

Jerrod Carmichael's fourth special for HBO, Don't Be Gay, premieres on HBO Saturday, May 24 at 10pm ET/PT and will be available to stream on Max.
