Filmed in Hollywood, the harrowing transphobic attack ended with one of the women being knocked out.
In footage that's going viral online, three trans women were robbed, ridiculed, and attacked by men on a Hollywood sidewalk. The transphobic attack included a scooter being thrown at the women, and one being knocked out by assailants. It was all captured on an Instagram live and in photographs by bystanders who did nothing but laugh.
According to the posts, Joslyn Flawless, Eden the Doll, and Jaslene White Rose, were all attacked as they were trying to get into an Uber. While Eden describes herself as "very lucky," the other two did not fair well.
According to Eden, an unnamed assailant stole her phone as the group was waiting for an Uber. They then chased him to retrieve the phone and others through various objects -- some called them rocks, while the assailants said they were lighters. All the while they were being ridiculed.
"Remember that shit on White Chicks," someone yelled. They also mocked Joslyn who had recently going hip surgery, and had a limp and fell to the ground while running. At one point, one of the men threw a scooter at the girls. As they were negotiating to buy their phone back from someone who had stolen it, another man ran up and knocked Jaslene unconscious for a while. Joslyn also wrote on Instagram that at one point a man "held a crowbar to my face and threatened to kill me unless I stripped my shoes off and gave him my jewelry and my [possessions.]"
As all of this goes on others walk by, no one helping the women. Some join in with the laughter, another man takes photos, others begin to film. As they begin to call for people to call for police, with Jaslene laying unconscious, others say they don't see any blood, belittling the injury.
"This was the most traumatic thing that ever happened to me," wrote of the incident. "Not just the fact that I was hit by a grown man, but because there were so many men watching this happen to me and my friends. And we begged for someone to call the police, but they were too busy recording and laughing." One person filming even yelled Black Lives Matter, mocking the incident.
This comes in an ongoing epidemic of violence against Black trans women. Many have reposted the videos and stills from it in the hopes to help the three women and the Los Angeles Police Department to catch the assailants.
