If there's one thing Symone is going to do, it's give you the full fantasy.
Symone came to RuPaul's Drag Race as a full-on brand. This came in large part due to her own work honing her craft in the confinement of her childhood bedroom as a teen, pulling inspiration from several iconic Black women. But those efforts were redoubled and magnified as she became enmeshed with her chosen family, the House of Avalon who have become a sort of creative think tank and production crew for one another. That clearly defined sense of self (and a whole lot of Johnson & Johnson) took Symone all the way to the season 13 crown. Then, she leveraged that crown and wielded the affiliated scepter to invade the world stage in what has been one of the most stunning reigns in show history.
That reign now comes memoralized in SYMoMA, a DragCon LA-booth turned pop-up-shop turned gallery exhibit dedicated to the Ebony Enchantress.
Presented by CashApp and the House of Avalon, SYMoMA features multiple rooms that serve as a retrospective of the Arkansas-born performer's past year. From magazine covers for Out and Interview, to an installment of her wigs, and even her much-discussed looks (the season 14 finale is included as well as the Met Gala moment) she brought it all.
For those who aren't at DragCon LA to see booth 1927, scroll on to see photos.
Hey everybody and welcome to DragCon's first installment of the SYMoMA pop-up shop! I wanted to take this moment and share with y'all some of my favoritest thangs over the past year. My reign has been filled with some of the best times of my life, and it's only right that I share it with the best fans a queen could ask for. That's y'all!
Now while the SYMoMA is an experience filled with stunting fashions, game changing wigs & fabulous photos, I also wanted this to be a fun reminder that no matter wher eyou come from or who you oare, ANYTHING is possible! So come in, enjoy yourself and remember, baby!
Look with yo eyes, not you hands.
Your Queen,
Symone
