We do declare… Blair St. Clair is taking over!
Fans of RuPaul’s Drag Race remember the young queen for competing on season 10 and the fifth season of All Stars.
“We’ve come a long way since then! I appreciate your love and respect, but I’m happy to be who and where we are today versus way back when,” Clair tells Out.
Now, Clair is stepping back onto a stage with their own show in New York City. The queen is making their cabaret debut in Legally Blair at The Green Room 42 on February 2 and 3.
“This is a one woman show. It is a fully rehearsed musical production. It’s just about me, my life, who I am today and where I am today. As artists, I think we’re storytellers. If I could make a huge production… I would. But, this is hopefully a stepping stone for that to happen eventually.”
As a theater kid growing up, Clair took advantage of the doors Drag Race opened by now focusing on their highest goal: Broadway.
“I found drag from theater. Drag allowed me to be the leading ladies that I wanted to be. I knew Drag Race was the real-life school that was going to prepare me for the things I want to do with my career. I’m telling you right now. I don’t know when, where, why, or how, but I will be on a Broadway stage in a Broadway show.”
Since the lights of Broadway are the main priority right now, it’s safe to say Clair won’t be entering the werkroom again anytime soon.
“I probably wouldn’t do it again. I’d rather work in other ways or do another type of show like Survivor, Big Brother, Amazing Race… something fun. Could you imagine me out in the wilderness? That’s TV people! If you’re not calling me, that’s the TV you need.”
The working queen surely isn’t slowing down anytime soon. However, Clair is ready to slow down in the dating world by looking for a relationship.
“You know what I really want to do? I want to do a dating show. I have been trying the dating pool again and it’s not hitting. I did a gig a week ago and three of the guys I was seeing all showed up to the gig. They [stood] by each other in a row and they literally looked like they could have been related. I was so embarrassed. Am I this self-involved? They looked a little bit like me in a way. But, she’s a verse queen! I like a little bit of everything.”
Juggling both dating and career schedules is certainly no easy task, but Clair is just thankful to be chasing their dreams each and every day.
“I don’t want to force anything. I’m just grateful to exist, to work, to have a platform, and to be authentic.”
