Sending love and support to this RuPaul's Drag Race legend!
UPDATE: Venus D-Lite did not quit or retire from drag, as clarified in a new statement shared with Out on May 9, 2025.
Venus D-Lite, best known as a Madonna impersonator and a competitor in season 3 of RuPaul's Drag Race, appears to have announced that she's quitting drag.
On Friday, August 30, Venus shared an Instagram story that reads:
"Dear drag, is it time to say goodbye? Did you ever appreciate me or my hard earned, endorsed impersonation? Your actions speak for themselves. I must do what is best for me and my passion that you once opened the door to. I hope you find peace like I have. Goodbye [wave emoji]. P.S. You reap what you sew."
Instagram (@venusdlitemadonna)
To quote season 4 star Willam, "Your tone seems very pointed right now."
Even though it appears that Venus is saying goodbye to the art form of drag in general, certain parts of the Instagram story statement seem slightly pointed at a particular person or platform. However, that isn't directly communicated in the statement, so maybe this is just coming from a drag artist who's been in the business for many years and is ready to move on to new creative endeavors.
Either way, we're sending Venus D-Lite some love!
New episodes of RuPaul's Drag Race Global All Stars are released every Friday on Paramount+.
