Dolly Parton Helps Raise $9 Million for Tennessee Fire Victims

A star-studded telethon hosted by Dolly Parton for those affected by the wildfires in her native Tennessee has raked in $9 million.

A star-studded telethon hosted by Dolly Parton for those affected by recent wildfires in the state of Tennessee has reportedly brought in over $9 million.

The event was held this week and was broadcasted on several cable networks as well as live-streamed online. On Thursday, the country superstar said in a statement that all donations have not yet been counted, but the total is estimated to be $9 million. That number itself is expected to soon rise as mail donations are counted and the telethon is re-broadcasted.

The wildfires, which mostly affected Tennessee's Sevier County, left 14 people dead and burned more than 2,500 houses and buildings.
