Few queer entertainment personalities embody what it was like to climb to fame during the infancy of YouTube and social media quite as much as Todrick Hall. Now the multi-hyphenate is preparing to release a documentary, Behind the Curtain: Todrick Hall, following him throughout the process of creating and releasing his recent visual album, Straight Outta Oz.

Hailing from a small Texas town, Hall dipped deep into his personal life growing up as a closeted young black man in a red state for source material for his musical. His tumultuous relationship with his mother coupled with the often insurmountable feat of making it in the entertainment industry lent themselves to pieces from the show as well.
Behind the Curtain premiered this year at SXSW and has since been made a selection for other festivals including DOC NYC, Seattle International Film Festival, Frameline, and Outfest. Featuring friends Hall had made along his own Yellow Brick Road, the doc has appearances from Wayne Brady, Caldwell Tidicue (Bob the Drag Queen), Jordin Sparks, Nicole Sherzinger, GloZell Green, Amber Riley and more.
