The Canadian Drag Kings & Queens That May Just Take Over

Drag, like other forms of art, is global. To that note, many of us all over the world gather together every Thursday night to dish and watch Rupaul's Drag Race. The folks directly north of us in Canada are right there with us. The only thing is that while they are certainly massive fans of the show, they don't have a Canadian iteration to call their own. But what they do have is a diverse offering of incredibly talented Canadian queens and kings.

The CBC clearly took notice with their nine-part web series that showcases "the true North strong and fabulous," Canada's a Drag.

"There's no Canadian version of Drag Race, and that isn't about to change as far as I know," said Peter Knegt, the series' producer. "But what is about to change is that Canadians are going to have an opportunity to at least get to know some of the country's finest drag performers."

Featuring queens from Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Edmonton, and Halifax, the series spotlights a dynamic group of drag kings and queens across the country that are pushing drag forward and giving the artform new dimension.

With the final episode in the series launching this Friday, catch up on all of the episodes here and meet some new drag performers--like Berlin Stiller and Gay Jesus--that are bound to take over.
