Take a break from reading that dirty Captain America/Winter Soldier fan fiction you've been bingeing for the past week and soak in this Marvel news -- iconic actress Annette Bening has been cast in the first female-led Marvel film, 2019's Captain Marvel.
If you stuck around for the post-credits scene at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, you know that Captain Marvel (aka Carol Danvers) is about to become very important to Earth's mightiest heroes, but before she does, Brie Larson will introduce audiences to the superhero next March. The film is reportedly set in the 90s and will surely be an origin story, and Variety reports that Bening will play Captain Marvel's mother.
Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, and Gemma Chan will also star in the film.
Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige recently called Captain Marvel the "most powerful superhero we've ever introduced," so hopefully she'll be able to take Thanos down a peg or two when she returns in the Infinity War follow-up.
