HBO Teases Game of Thrones Final Season Premiere Date & Spinoff News
Winter is coming...and now we know when -- kind of. At the TCA Summer Press Tour, HBO president Casey Bloys revealed that Games of Thrones' highly anticipated final season will come sometime in the first half of 2019. Many are speculating that this means Thrones will return to its traditional spring premiere schedule (the first six seasons all premiered in April or May while the seventh debuted in July 2017).
It looks like HBO is taking the title of the final A Song of Fire and Ice novel -- A Dream of Spring -- to heart. A good thing, too, because George R. R. Martin certainly won't be publishing it anytime soon.

Bloys also announced that the Thrones spinoff pilot HBO ordered is in development and set to begin filming in early 2019. The prequel will journey back to Westeros' Age of Heroes, exploring the mythic Children of the Forest, the origin of the White Walkers and the Stark family's ancestors.
