Hannah Gadsby is just as shocked by the success of her Netflix comedy special Nanette as the rest of us are. During an appearance on the Tonight Show, Gadsby told Jimmy Fallon, "It's a bit much, isn't it?"
I really thought it would divide audiences, and it just hasn't," joked Gadsby, who went on to talk about how her intentions about quitting comedy, which she talks about in Nanette, have changed since the special's success. "I said I was quitting, and if I quit, I'm an idiot now...If the show had gone as badly as I'd planned it would've worked, but now I'm left with the choice: I'll either be an idiot or a hypocrite. I'll be a hypocrite."
In another clip, Gadsby talks about meeting Emma Thompson and how her mother has reacted to Nanette's success.
