Fans and critics were dismayed when it was announced that Lana Del Rey would be headlining the inaugural Meteor Festival in Israel in early September, with many reminding the singer of the ongoing sociopolitical issues between the country and neighboring Palestine.
After an initial back-and-forth with the internet that had Del Rey declaring the way she feels on social media and deciding she would perform in both Israel and Palestine, the singer has now pulled out of the musical festival all together and isn't performing in the region at all.
"Unfortunately it hasn't been possible to line up both visits with such short notice and therefore I'm postponing my appearance at the Meteor Festival until a time when I can schedule visits for both my Israeli and Palestinian fans," the singer wrote in a post on Twitter.
Del Rey is the now the newest in a growing list of artists and celebrities who have been pressured into cancelling and boycotting events in Israel because the country's treatment of Palestinians.
