Finally, gays playing straight!
Straight actors playing gay: out! Gay Olympians playing straight: in!
American Horror Story creator and FX and Netflix megaproducer Ryan Murphy shared on his Instagram that Olympian Gus Kenworthy will join the upcoming season of American Horror Story as Emma Roberts' boyfriend.
Details about AHS's ninth season are currently under wraps. There was some speculation in the past that the season would involve AHS:Coven's witches, but after they popped up in AHS:Apocalypse, that seems less likely. Then again, this is the Murphy-verse; everything is made up and logic need not apply. As per the prolific show runner's Instagram, Roberts is slated to come back, as well as Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, who have been part of each of the show's seasons.
Kenworthy's husband Matthew Wilkas will also be appearing wherever you watch TV soon. He was recently cast as a macho gay police officer in Netflix's AJ and the Queen starring RuPaul.
Casting Kenworthy is a huge departure for Murphy, who usually casts guys whose hair is one shade darker and all look exactly like this.
