The king of online lip syncing videos is now on HBO.
If you're looking for your next favorite gay comedian, try Bowen Yang.
Queer comedian Bowen Yang delivered a set covering his name, being a queer Chinese comedian, and what he has in common with a drink called a "Shanghai mule," on the HBO comedy series 2 Dope Queens, hosted by Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson.
Yang is a Saturday Night Live writer who has also gotten some viral fame for his lip sync videos, where he recreates favorite viral millennial moments, like the Tyra Banks "We were all rooting for you!" rant.
Yang, who co-hosts the podcast "Las Culturistas" with comedian Matt Rogers, opened his set by joking about his own wardrobe, a glittery black-and-silver striped shirt.
"I look like I just got kicked out of a K-pop group," Yang says. "I wanted to take a fashion risk for everyone tonight because I am a risk taker. I use dating apps with my phone's brightness at zero, it's who I am. I might buy some churros off the subway when I go home."
He also talks about his own name.
"It's an unusual name. In Mandarin, it means 'scholar' and in Celtic it means 'farmer,'" Yang says. "So those translations cancel out to mean administrative assistant."
