WASHED OUT
Paracosm
Stats: This guy practically wrote the book on chillwave. His song "Feel It All Around" plays during the opening credits of Portlandia, so Fred and Carrie clearly dig him.
What to Expect: Swirling harps; samples of frolicking children and chirping birds; chill, stoner-y jams with names like "Weightless"
and "It All Feels Right"
But What's With the title? A paracosm is a detailed imaginary world or fairyland. Like Narnia or Westeros!

JULIANNA BARWICK
Nepenthe
Stats: She's basically considered indie-New Age royalty. Her song "Anjos" was used in a Levi's campaign, and she recorded this album with Alex Somers (who's produced for Jonsi and Sigur Ros) in Iceland.
What to Expect: Twinkly pianos; layers of purty ambience; a choir of teenage girls (aw).
But What's With the title? In ancient Greek mythology, nepenthe was a magic drug that made you forget your grief and sorrow. Like antidepressants, but cooler!
