Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Score 7 Grammy Nominations
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are ending the year on a high note. The two landed seven nominations, making them one of the most nominated acts at the 2014 Grammy Awards.
While "Thrift Shop" topped the charts, it was "Same Love" that scored them (and fellow songwriter Mary Lambert) a nomination for Song of the Year. The song--which Out has covered at length--clearly struck a chord with voters in a big year for LGBTQ rights. (A year after it debuted, "Same Love" landed in the top ten of Billboard's Hot 100 following the Supreme Court's decision on DOMA and Prop8.)
Other big nominees include Jay Z with nine, while Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake and Pharrell Williams tied M&RL with seven.
