Azealia Banks Releases Debut LP, Broke With Expensive Tastes

Yes, you read that right. "212" emcee Azalea Banks has at long last released her debut album, Broke With Expensive Tastes. She pulled a Beyonce (or so she hopes) and surprise released it.

If this felt like a long time coming, that's because it has been. Banks's album has been in development limbo for over a year, which she claimed was due to of her ongoing spat with her record label, Interscope.

"You know, keep my head down and my mouth shut until everything is worked out and then hopefully release some songs that I've been holding onto forever," Banks told Out in an interview this past June. Much to her relief and joy, she was dropped by her label in July.

True to her word, the "1991" rapper did release music post-Interscope. She put out groove-worthy "Heavy Metal and Reflective" and "Chasing Time."

We began to speculate that Banks was planning this with her cryptic social media posts. She blacked out all of her profile pictures and put up #BWET banners. She then tweeted this:
