Field Report: The MANtreal Notebooks

During the banquet, I took the time to embark on a field of study in which I shall discursively represent a posterior view of the head region of many contemporary scholars of masculinity. In obscuring their faces in these drawings, I am harkening back to Fanon's idea of the contigencies of masculinity. They could, literally, be anyone but by situating these portraits in the context of an academic conference, I am challenging the reader to confound and confront notions of class, gender and race attendent in traditional portraiture. Either that or I was fucking bored and a little drunk.
