Ferragamo Does Pop Art

Ferragamo's "Creation" Brogue, a limited edition handcrafted lace-up shoe -- made with the softest leather, an asymmetrical cut, and curved toe and decorated with brushstrokes and drops of paint -- resembles those worn by Andy Warhol around his studio (thus the decorative paint motif).

The back story of this little beauty? After Warhol's death, the Ferragamo family won an original pair that belonged to the artist from a Christies auction, marking the conception of this fashion and pop art love child. This is also the only men's model that Salvatore Ferragamo ever created in during his illustrious career, and which he himself wore.

Paying homage is key, especially when it comes to the materials used: soft, full grain, dark brown calfskin, aged with aniline dyes, just like the originals. For this fusion of fashion history and pop art's greatest icon, you'll have to fork over a good $990, but it's a steal when you consider you're getting to walk in Warhol's shoes.

Ferragamo's Creations are available in the following Ferragamo men's boutiques: Via Montenapoleone, Milan; Dover Street Market, London; and Fifth Avenue, New York.
