Back to Black: Lanvin for H&M

A picture has leaked from Lanvin's forthcoming collaboration with H&M (we get the feeling -- more and more, these days -- that these magical 'leaks' come from the companies themselves to add to buzz and word of mouth, right?). It, of course, only features women's looks, but they are pretty damn fabulous, and very, very much in line with Alber Elbaz's vision for the brand. The voluminous one-shoulder dress is pure Lanvin as is the sexy riff on the tuxedo jacket. We're also loving that they have a little chic granny hanging out with the young gals. She's actually our favorite with her crazy Bram Stoker's Dracula hair and bad-ass glasses. She is not your typical crocheting gran, she's all hardcore and wears super fab designer dresses to opera openings and fancy lunches with 'the girls' (aka her bridge partners). It's actually quite a savvy marketing move, too. Lanvin knows that, at the end of the day, their customer probably leans a little older (and wealthier) than really young or youthful. It's not seen as a particularly junior brand.

This just whets our appetites to see more (and to shop more). We're hoping that a men's ad leaks as well, but it's doubtful. We're really interested to see how Albaz's ideas matriculate down to a mass-retail mentality.
